Mrs. Lucinda Harlan who was born near Vincennes, Indiana October 4,
1812. Her parents, David and Sarah Hogue, moved into this
county, near where the town of York now stands, in December 1814,
when their daughter was but a little over two years old, and she has
resided here ever since. Her father died in 1823. She
was married to Justin Harlan, now County Judge, the 4th of March,
1832. Her mother died in 1846. Mrs. Harland is the
mother of nine children, eight of whom are now living, and a more
respected and useful family than hers cannot be found. The
boys are all regarded as our best men, there being Howard, Cyrus,
Edward, William, Justin and Wilson, all residents of this place,
while her daughters are Emily Payne the wife of Alex, and Mary the
wife of W. A. Wright.
James Plasters of this who was born in the State of Virginia, June
3, 1791 and is consequently, in his eighty-seventh year. He is
yet spry, and does considerable work about his garden and
place. He was married only about a year ago, to Mrs. Batlou,
of this city. The oldest settler, and the one who received the
LARGE, FAMILY BIBLE, presented by M. O. Frost, editor of the Herald.
(James was the oldest individual to this meeting)
