The first grand jury in Clark County, IL, was selected September 18,
1820, at first County seat in town of Aurora on the Wabash
River. They were: Samuel Prevo, Newell
Leonard, Cornelius Lamb, George W. Catron, William Lockard, John
Stafford, John Handy, Joseph Shaw, Zacheus Hassel, Jacob Long,
Richard Armstrong, Louis Morris, John Stratton, William V. Levay,
William Murphy, Enoch Davis, Abraham Snyder and Hugh Miller.
The witnesses claiming presence at this first term of court
were: William Whitley, William Murphy, John Stratton, David
Boland, Lewis Murphy, Nineveh Shaw, Alden Winchester, Charles
Patrick, Joseph Owens, William P. Bennett and Johnathan Mays.
